Collin was born and raised in Redford, Michigan, where he grew up playing local travel hockey, beginning at age seven. Collin was a 2007 graduate of Redford Union High School where he spent three seasons playing Varsity hockey, serving as team captain his senior year. Upon graduation, Collin played Tier III Junior A hockey for the Motor City Chiefs Hockey Club for one season before moving on to study at Northern Michigan University. While studying business management at NMU, Collin played for the club hockey team, a member of Division II ACHA, for two seasons. While this is his first official coaching opportunity, Collin has coaching experience from his time spent as head hockey counselor at Camp Wildwood, in Maine. Collin currently works product support for a Chicago-based company and resides on the north side of Wrigleyville.
